hr-iNFO: Transport des möglichen Corona-Impfstoffes über den Frankfurter Flughafen

"Nichts wird so sein wie früher, solange wir keinen Impfstoff und kein Medikament haben", so hat das Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel in der vergangenen Woche gesagt bei ihrer Sommerpressekonferenz in Berlin. Damit hat sie ausgesprochen was viele hoffen: Endlich wieder einen normalen Alltag zu haben, ohne die ganzen Beschränkungen. Eins scheint auch klar zu sein: Sobald ein Impfstoff zur Verfügung steht, dürfte es von jetzt auf gleich eine riesen Nachfrage geben. Und wenn es besonders schnell gehen soll, dann führt häufig kein Weg an der Luftfracht vorbei. Schätzungen gehen schon jetzt davon aus, dass für den Transport von Impfstoffen eine Kapazität von umgerechnet 8000 Frachtflugzeugen vom Typ Jumbojet gebraucht wird. Darauf bereiten sich schon viele Flughäfen vor, auch der in Frankfurt.

Then came corona and the wind turned overnight. Suddenly, truck drivers and their employers became heroes who guaranteed the supply of vital goods such as PPE and foodstuff. But this boost of reputation didn’t last for long.
