exchange on handling situations

Last weekend, again large quantities of protective equipment were handled at Frankfurt Airport. The handling companies report a bit stronger deliveries at the weekend, here the communication to the partners seems to show first successes.

FRA also handles lively traffic on ad hoc charter flights, additional trucks and passenger aircrafts with cabin loads. The cargo handlers are processing high import volumes with above-average numbers of packages and serve a large number of collectors with many sprinters and small trucks. This kind of traffic has led to waiting times and a temporary backlog of import units on the airport apron. Where possible, the handling companies have prepared themselves accordingly and meanwhile have largely worked up the backlog in joint efforts with the partners, whereby the warehouses are still full. Fraport has installed a mobile sanitary facility to improve the infrastructure for truck drivers.

The handling of the export flights was regular again this weekend.

Shifts in pick-up behavior can be assumed for the coming public holiday and the weekend. For this reason, the participants in the Air Cargo Community continue to ask companies to continuously collect freight over the weekend in order to keep the peak at the beginning of the week as low as possible.

The partners have agreed to maintain the productive exchange even after the Corona crisis and to use the knowledge gained to strengthen the FRA location further.
